Beauty schools

Education is an important issue these days and for young people looking for a college or other type of training it is not always easy to find the right path that is suitable for their situation. There are all sorts of people and not every kind of training or schooling will be the right choice. Of course, there is a multitude of schools and colleges to choose from and that in itself, that bewildering choice of options, is not always a great help.

I want to let you know about these cosmetology schools that I have heard about. They are Regency beauty schools and they just happen to be the fastest growing beauty school in the land. They have expanded from a mere two Minnesota schools in 2002 to nearly thirty campuses in a number of states and it looks like they will keep growing in the future.

Online fun and games

There are a great many ways of enjoying yourself in a way that suits you down to a tee. Some people excel at having a myriad of fascinating hobbies and pastimes and leisure pursuits. Some others yet like to play sports, either competitively or individually and derive a lot of enjoyment from that. Some people love nothing better than sitting quietly in a corner of their living room and reading books. And then of course many people endeavour to do something in the creative arts and I myself have written poems, painted using oils and acrylics and dabbled in photography.

Some people enjoy online gambling and if done responsibly that can be a really thrilling way to have some fun and possibly win a few bucks. Anyone can see how that would be a great deal of fun. Having a flutter, as they say in England, can be a really fun thing to do every now and then. There are many ways to do your gambling online including video slots and other online games.

Fun and games; for some people that is what it is all about and who could blame them? There are endless ways of amusing your self and what is fun for one person can be something different to others. Let’s just have some fun!

Poor Zimbabwe

The opposition leader in Zimbabwe has sought refuge in the Dutch embassy in climate of fear and intimidation and violence at the hands of Mad Mugabe's regime. Another fine advert for socialism is Mugabe. One of the most prosperous country in the region has been systematically destroyed by this thug. A loaf of bread costs millions of dollars on the streets of Harare. It would be nice is someone with the stature of Nelson Mandela found a minute or two to denounce Mugabe's reign of terror.

Hippy solstice fest

All the hippies and druids and other colourful peeps would have been out at Stonehenge celebrating the Summer Solstice. Apparently, more than thirty thousand people turned up overnight, even though the weather was damp and cloudy and dawn passed without any sight of the sun itself. Hope it's not a bad omen?

What's all this then, Mr Martian?

The West Country is a funny sort of place with its stone circles, crop circles, Avalon and much more. Now the police have spotted a genuine UFO. They haven't called Mulder and Scully yet but they seem to have seen something odd in the skies. It only proves that anything you don't immediately recognise and flies about in the skies is, of course, technically a UFO.

Online medical reference

Doctors and physicians do get about these days. They make house calls, go to other hospitals, conferences and generally get to see patients in places elsewhere but their own practice. So, how useful do you think it would be if they could have an online access to their drugs reference resources such as a mobile CME. That would greatly enhance the service that medical staff can provide to patients.

Doctors can now have all manner of drug information always on call with Epocrates
Perhaps you are not aware that more than half of doctors own a PDA (personal digital assistant) or a smart phone. PDA medical software by companies, such as Epocrates, Inc., can be credited in a very easy way for making pocket-size devices a common thing in physicians’ equipment.

“This announcement was paid for by Epocrates.”

The laminated Joan Rivers

Joan Rivers was a guest on Graham Norton's show tonight and of course she was her usual crude, outrageous and funny self. She specializes in taking the mickey out of everyone, including herself, which I like. She has a good line in snappy one-liners and is always good value on a talk show. The other guest was Alicia Silverstone who forces her dogs to be vegan. I don't think they were consulted, really. Alicia 'loves the planet, and people and animals'. I nearly cried. Luckily Graham Norton deflated the greenoid tendencies somewhat and Joan Rivers wasn't having any of it anyway. Fun show.

Lola

Lola, our lovely black and white cat is a marvel. She is just so intelligent and sharp as a razor. You don't want to pick a fight with her but you won't have to as she is just lovely company and mostly very good natured. She does get her claws into her equally gorgeous sister Twinkle but that's just par for the course. Lovely fluff-ball.

Your perfect bedroom

What is the bedroom but a retreat from the big bad world outside? The bedroom, after all, needs to be a haven of peace, an oasis of tranquility; simply put it needs to a proper sanctuary in which to retreat from the world and one’s daily cares and mundane troubles. When the working day is over and the needs of the day and evening are looked after it is here where one needs to be to withdraw from everything else and focus on relaxation and bliss. At least that is what I think, and I think that I am right although you may disagree.

If I were to have one of those bedrooms with some fantastic fitted bedroom furnitureI would opt for something elegant but still comfortable. I could not really relax in something that is too pristine or museum-like in its appearance. I would want to be comfy but also to have the feeling that I am surrounded by a fine, elegant boudoir, if you will. A person’s taste can never really be a topic of debate. Anything goes, I feel.

Of course, the colours would have to be subtle and light so as to maximise brightness and an airy feeling. I would steer clear of pastel colours as I am not too keen on those. The fittings would be modern or classic but stylish at any rate and the furniture would be of a certain good quality. I don’t think you can cut corners there but that is my opinion. A sense of luxury is sometimes easily attained if you make the right choices.

Chinese food

I'm just about to go and get some Chinese food from Jade Palace, our local and very fine Chinese restaurant. I love their dumplings and yellow bean beef dishes. Ever since I've been to Hong Kong, I've really started loving Chinese food. The flavours of a really fine restaurant's cuisine are just so delicate and subtle. How could you not love it?

Fun number plates

Those of us who own a car are used to all the administration involved in running a vehicle; that much is certain. The tax that needs paying, the insurance, the licence that needs keeping clean, the annual safety test, or MOT as it is known here in England. I suppose you never give a second thought to your number plate. What could me more boring than a number plate? Well now, of course there are plenty of people out there who have fun number plates with funny combinations of letters and or numbers that mean something to them and others. Some people are quite clever and creative in inventing good fun number plates.

I am afraid that I would simply opt for a self-aggrandizing ‘A N1’ if I could afford it. That would do me fine, I have to say. What better than to call your self A Number One, of course you have to inculcate a fair amount of irony and tongue in cheek.

I think I once saw a big Jaguar racing past with a licence that said simply: ‘M BIG’, and I assumed he was referring to his waistline but I may have been mistaken. It has happened before, I will have you know. Go on, have a laugh and get your self a funny number plate..

Strewth

Funny sort of little article about Gordon Ramsay's legendary swearing causing a bit of a stir with authorities in Australia. I wouldn't have thought the Aussies would be easily offended but perhaps they were just bored by Ramsay's over-indulgence in using the F-word that they were vexed to the same extent. It comes to something when your gimmick or 'hook' is your use of that much-loved Anglo-Saxon profanity. Strong language? Poor language more like.

Buying gold

Most of us have, at some stage, dreamt of what it would be like to be truly wealthy. One of the images that denote real luxury and riches has to be the sight of those golden yellow gold items that are so impressive to just look at such as jewellery and art objects. At Monex Precious Metals you can invest in gold bars, gold bullion, coins, silver, platinum and palladium and other products. And, as everyone well knows, investing in gold is usually one of the safest options that will keep their worth in years to come.

Buying gold has been recognized for ages and ages as one of the most reliable ways to preserve one’s wealth and buying power. And of course gold bullion is a unique investment, that goes without saying. From time immemorial to more recent times, humankind has had an enduring affinity with gold bullion that has truly stood the test of time. In all ages and across the world, people have been fascinated with the beauty and the magic of gold. These days the beauty of a gold bar must lie in its proven capacity to diversify investments, to protect wealth and also to preserve one’s purchasing power. Purchasing gold is really a great investment and one that you can rely on whatever happens.

My two cats

Within a few months I shall be leaving these shores for good and making a new life for myself Down Under, partly due to personal circumstances having altered my future prospects. I will miss out two cats, Lola and Twinkle, as they are the two best cats any cat lover could ever dream of wanting to own. On the whole they are well behaved, very affectionate and just gorgeous. They are quite separate characters although the lady at the rescue centre where we got them from told us they were sisters. One is feisty and independent and the other one is a soppy so-and-so who just wants to relax and eat as often as is allowed. They are great and I will really miss them when I’m at the other end of the world. Bless them..

Sites and sounds

Music plays a big part in my life and no mistake. Just the joy and pleasure of waking up in the morning to some sweet sounds makes my day. Some of the best times I have had were listening to music. I think you can understand that. It is a very magical thing, the way in which music speaks to the soul. There is so much to enjoy and, of course, beauty is in the ear of the beholder in this case. Check out this site and Discover New and Free music at Sites and Sounds, it really is a fabulous site to find all of your favourite Sites and Sounds.

There is a wealth of great music sites to be found here and you won’t leave the site empty handed. I love it when I discover a great new band or musical artist I’ve never heard of before but that turns out to become one of my favourites. You can’t put a price on that. I used to keep track of the charts as well but these days downloads are obviously the way to go, and why not? This site will tell you all you need to know about some of the best sites and sounds.

Liver

Not a big fan of liver, me..My wife loves the English dish of liver and onions and fair enough, why not? But I'm not too keen on organs for dinner. I don't mind liver pate and things like that but when the taste of the liver becomes all overpowering, that's where I get off the roller coaster, yes Sir. Not too keen on tripe either although I've never had it. Looks creepy, that's basically what puts me off. Anyway, bon appetit!

What's your line?

Okay, so you are all sorted with your wonderfully cool Victory Hair, styled beautifully using Extreme Style by VO5 and you are ready for a night out on the town filled with romance and good fun. What are some of the lines you may be wanting to let loose on some lucky lady? Let’s see. ‘You had me at Hello’, was a good one from the Hollywood treasure trove. Personally, I like to use a bit of humour as well. I might opt for the line used by Peter Seller’s character when he whispered to Sophia Loren in an awe-struck tone of voice: ‘God, but you’re lovely’, at which point she is supposed to swoon into his arms, abandoning all manner of decorum, forever his if he chooses it.

Russia it is

So, Holland will be playing Russia on Saturday in the quarter finals. I have to say that I enjoyed seeing Russia play a blinder against Sweden last night. They were composed, played very fast flowing combination football and totally out-classed the poor old Swedes. Having that brilliant player whom I like to call Arseshaving didn't go amiss either.

Victory Hair fun

Have you ever heard of the phenomenon of Victory Hair? No, well here is how it is done in style. Adopting an Extreme Style by VO5 certainly helps but nature has a role to play as well, I am pleased to say. Imagine flirting with a lovely looking girl or boy whatever the particular case may be. Dinner is bought so parties are wined and dined and later in the evening the mood turns amorous. Now what happens next should be sparks flying, magic all around, the earth itself moving resulting in carefully styled hair getting wonderfully messed up. Now that, dear readers, is how you achieve Victory Hair, believe it or not.

Check out the wonderful Ultimate Flirting Championship and you will be well pleased. You can also play the online game to see if you can get Victory Hair so why not wander over and give it a go. It is great fun and it will mess your hair up big style!

Flirting is a serious business and it is seriously good fun. To put someone at ease, to make compliments without resorting to cheesy old-fashioned lines is a genuine art that is hard to master yet very rewarding when it is done right and with gusto. Everyone can do it and it makes life a lot more interesting. Don’t you find?

Crop circle

Crop circle found near Barbury Castle in the magical county of Wiltshire. Apparently, the complex pattern represents the number Pi, which seems fairly amazing. Funny things do happen in Wiltshire and most crop circles seem to pop up here. It is quite stunning, this image, in an aesthetic sense as well. I find these circles quite intruiging, whatever their origin.

Carbon free search engine

More and more people nowadays are trying to be more responsible when it comes to natural resources, sustainable energy and recycling. On the whole, you cannot argue with this as it must be a good thing to be more aware of the Environment and to try to limit the waste you generate and that ends up in landfill sites. My wife and I are quite conscientious recyclers and I think there is no excuse not to recycle as more and more city councils are making the whole process very easy in the way that you can have your recycled waste collected from your doorstep. That has to be a good thing.

There is now a great new Carbon Neutral search engine, so you may want to look into this. You can download their open search plug in and away you go.

There seem to be more and more ways to become more sensible about energy and saving energy. I think what we need is the next breakthrough in energy supply from a technological point of view, but that is just me. Or we could go with the nuclear option. Even James Lovelock, the godfather of the green movement, seems to advocate that possibility.

Bristol's building

There is this enormous building project in the city centre that I pass on my way to work every morning. And it always strikes me that it must be a fairly relaxed working culture if you are a labourer in the building industry. I am sure that they do some hard graft but there is also a lot of standing around while smoking involved. Not my cup of tea, though..

But seriously, what would be the worst pick-up line ever in the history of humankind? Bush in Britain

President Bush was in Britain just recently. Of course, the usual professional protesters were out in force but I don't think anything too major occurred. Perhaps they realise that Bush is on his way out and they're not too bothered anymore. I think the leftoids are going to miss El Presidente. Now they will have to look for real causes to problems in stead of blaming everything on Bush.

The art of flirting

For more widgets please visit www.yourminis.com

Flirting. Ah.. now you are talking. I love the way some girls or women are champions when it comes to the fine and delicate art of flirting. Sometimes it can be something really very subtle and persuasive and other times it can be something a little less refined. However it pans out, flirting can really make my day. And I don’t think it’s necessarily a bad thing to flirt a little even when you are in a relationship. I think it is also a social mechanism that works well between people, in my case people of the opposite sex. A bit of flirting never harmed anyone, in my honest opinion, and it can really lift your spirits on any given day.

Perhaps I should adopt an Extreme Style by VO5 to help me improve my flirting success. Or try to get the right kind of Victory Hair to impress the lovely ladies. When you ask me: what is the look you give when flirting, I would have to say I usually try to produce a knowing smile, something which comes naturally, I have to say. I don’t like trying cheesy pick up lines or smarmy come-ons. A little risqué joke here, an attentive smile or gesture there; a willingness to be a little intimate without becoming sleazy; I think that is my modus operandi, basically.

The ideal wedding photographer

For many girls their wedding day is the day that they are dreaming of for years, imagining it to be the perfect day and the very best day of their lives. Some brides go to amazing lengths to make sure that the big day is just perfect and that everything goes without a hitch. After all, you want your wedding day to go well and for everyone involved to have a wonderful time. I’m not sure if the same goes to the same extent for the groom as his input might be reduced to just showing up on time. But perhaps I am being too harsh. Of course, a groom wants to enjoy the day as well. After all, he is marrying the love of his life so it only makes sense, I suppose.

There are many Professional Wedding Photographers to choose from and it can be very important to have the right kind of wedding photographer on the big day. You need someone who knows his trade and is able to make some amazing shots of the couple and the wedding guests, even if the weather decided not to cooperate fully. Also, the photographer needs to be amiable and persuasive as some time might be required in taking a sometimes seemingly endless series of pictures. It is only fair that the couple and the family want to keep a memorable record of the event. So, the photographer needs to be able to put the guests at ease in order to bring out the besting them.

A sense of humour would not go amiss as a wedding day can seem like a very long day and he or she needs to keep the guests, bride and groom on side all along. I suppose that a good professional wedding photographer would need to be able to establish a good rapport with children as pictures of the children present at a wedding can make for really uplifting wedding photos.

Dutch beat Romania

The Dutch won their last match in the group stages of the Euros by beating Romania by two-nil. Easy-peasy. The Romania never looked like scoring didn't impress. What was impressive was how Holland were able to field a second-string team that still had some extremely good players in it. Now they're in the quarter final against either Sweden or Russia. Roll on Saturday!

Investing in overseas property

Would you like a holiday home somewhere scenic and warm? How would you respond to a tantalising question like that if you had to think about it? Where in the world would you like to have some overseas property if you could make an informed choice? For many people, I would imagine, France would come top of the list. People just love the idea of the French country idyll, and I must say it is a tempting one. For me, personally, it would have to be sunny Spain. I think I would choose somewhere near Murcia on the coast for my ideal foreign property. I would enlist the services of this renowned Overseas Property Investment Agency and off I would go on a well deserved series of stress free vacations. Who could blame me, really?

I just love Spain when all things are considered. I like interacting with the friendly people, the rugged landscapes, the food that I find irresistible and, obviously, the balmy climate. I love the fact that you can be sitting outside somewhere, underneath the stars, at eleven o’ clock at night and still be eating and drinking and enjoying some fiery Flamenco music. What is not to like, as they say?

Or, alternatively, I would choose a property investment in one of Spain’s wonderful cities, such as Seville or Barcelona. I could go for that equally. An art deco apartment in Barcelona would do me fine or a nice pad in magical Seville. It would be a great investment and I could use it when I wanted to visit the place. That sounds ideal. Could you wrap me up one of those, please?

Or, should I be incredibly chique and opt for a flat in Paris? That would be pretty cool as well. I could perfect my French and drink wine and beer in the many quaint bars of this fabulous capital city. Oh la la, now there is an idea. Investing in the Euro zone generally would seem like a good idea, I would guess, so why not?

Orange overkill

Much as I like the fact that the Dutch football fans have a lot to shout about at the moment I have to admit that I have never revelled in the sight of hordes of people, all dressed in bright neon-like orange, wearing tulips, cheeses and/or windmills on their heads. It just makes me feel a tad queasy, to be honest. Good luck to them and I hope their team will go far in this tournament but sometimes I long for the days when television sets were black and white..
