Farewell to summer?

Summer feels like it is nearing the end. The air feels cooler and the really hot days seem to be winding down. I have heard tell that the months of April usually has really nice weather. We’ll see. I think I may have survived my first Australian summer in one piece, which is nice..

Going out

I like going out in Sydney. Up until now I have mostly been to pubs and have enjoyed jazz bands playing. I have also seen a film a while ago. What I am now keen to do is to see a live comedy performance or a play somewhere. And, let’s not forget about the Opera House. I can’t wait to catch something good there.

More fires

Apparently, there are more bushfires raging in Victoria. I do hope these won't be as bad as the ones that wreaked such havoc in that state only so recently. Last Sunday there was an emotional national service that was being broadcasted on television. The country has reeled but has also pulled together in a admirable way.

Oh for the days...

Oh for the days indeed. Indeed for the days when I had so much time on my hands I could do nigh well anything I pleased. I could for instance visit Manta Mania 3 the Sea World extravaganza. That would be quite nice, honchos!

Sleep regime

With the cool weather coming in it has been a lot nicer to sleep at night. I don't mind the hot weather too much but sleeping when it is sweltering is just not very comfortable. But the cool and rainy weather has really made a difference. I wake up reasonably refreshed and rested and that is just about all that you can ask for, at the end of the day. Sleep, sleep, glorious sleep indeed..

Critters

I am really looking forward to seeing some of the Australian wildlife creatures. People tell me that possums are vermin and pests but I would like to see one for myself. I have seen koalas in a wildlife sanctuary but I would love to see one in real life. I did see kangaroos in different location around the country and that was just wonderful. They are so elegant in the way that they hop around at great speed. They are magnificent animals and a great emblem for our country.

A good night out is always good fun.Is there anything more fun than dressing up for a big night out? It can be such good fun to get dressed up to the nines for a big occasion, such as a wedding or another big event like a reception or gala dinner. Aussie television

Television here in Australia is pretty good, at least it's alright. The good thing is that they show an awful lot of British programmes, some of which passed me by the first time around when I lived in England. I have been able to catch up on some great stuff the second time around. One of these is 'The Last Detective', a cop show with Peter Davieson I'm really enjoying. Not too bad at all..

Raining cats and dogs

The whole day it has been raining steadily. It's a good thing over here in Australia. In the driest continent the people welcome any rain. It's good for agriculture, the rivers, the drinking water reservoir levels, and the gardens. So, let's be thankful to whomever chose to perform a rain dance first thing this morning. Fire telethon

Tonight, I watched a bit of the big fundraising show on television. Funds are being raised for the victims of the terrible bushfires in Victoria. It was quite moving to see how people have rallied to help out the people in Victoria. They raised millions of dollars and I'm sure they will keep raising money. It's good to see the country sticking together.

Gorgeous brekkie

Just enjoyed a wonderful breakfast at my all time favourite cafe down the road. The food is lovely and the service is always efficient and friendly. It's a busy sort of place with all manner of people quickly popping in for a fast coffee on the run and a bite to eat. But you can sit down and enjoy your food and superb coffee and read the paper as well. It really is a great way to start the day.

Energy saving

Energy. There are mornings when I wake up and I don’t seem to have much of it at my disposal. But that’s just me. Much more important is the energy we all use to power all of our appliances and so on. I tend to try to switch off the stand-by function on the television.

King Rafa

Spent most of last night watching the epic battle between Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer at the finals of the Australian Open. The match was a cracker and Nadal thoroughly deserved to win his first Australian Open Championship. The sheer force of mental power that he brought to bear was fabulous to watch.

He'd already played a five hour match on Friday and here he was, up against Federer, and he kept on going, never giving up, never weakening. Some of the masterful shots by both players were a joy to behold.

The game went on till after midnight and after the final point was scored and Nadal had won, the release and relief on both players' faces was evident. Federer came over all emotional and was too teary-eyed to deliver his speech. Nadal comforted him. Two great players and one fantastic match. Simply wonderful.

Addiction recovery

People are people and at times we all go through hardship and pain. Some of this may even be self inflicted as in the case of addiction. That does not mean the pain and suffering is any less, of course. I don’t like the idea of being addicted to anything and would hate the feeling of being in thrall to any substance or unhealthy behaviour.

Arizona

Some people like the cold and wind and snow and ice and all that jazz. Fair enough, I’m sure. I used to live in a cold climate where the winters were pretty full on, and I have to say, I never really enjoyed it. I just don’t like feeling cold, I suppose. I would much rather live in a nice warm climate like that of Arizona, for instance.

I could do worse than invest in some Scottsdale real estate and enjoy the nice warm Arizona weather. I do like dry heat, as long as it is not too humid. Just to be able to go out and about not having to wear much in the way of clothes and garments is a good thing, as far as I’m concerned.

Right now, apparently it’s 80degrees in Arizona which does sound nice to me. So, perhaps I should snap up one of these new homes and move to where it’s nice and warm.
