Kransky Sisters

Went to see the Kransky Sisters last night, at the Playhouse theatre in Sydney. I had never seen them before but was impressed. It's an odd idea for a performance, three strange sisters from strange Esk in Queensland who perform renditions of songs they heard on 'the wireless'. The result is a bizarre set consisting for instance of Staying Alive as you've never heard it before. The spoken performances are just as witty and entertaining. Great stuff! Not to keen to visit Esk, though..

Sleep

Woke up from a heavy slumber this morning, just in time to catch the bus to work. Yes, that's right work. It's a Saturday and I'm at work, for crying out loud. It's not that bad, really. But I could have slept for hours longer, if it had been up to me, which it wasn't. Ah well. Nevermind. It will soon be nightfall when my weekend commences. Hoora

The perfect wedding destination

Good news reached from the other side of the world to the effect that my niece is getting married. That’s right; she’s getting hitched and she will be an honest woman. Well, she was pretty honest already, mind you. They have a great honeymoon planned and I am sure that they will be very happy together.

They could do worse than choose one of the destination weddings at one of the Karisma hotels in beautiful Mexico. Now, that would be quite something, for to be sure.

The wedding packages at the Karisma hotels were designed with true love in mind. The sunshine, the glorious beaches, swaying palm trees; it is just a slice of heaven for love birds.

This is a sponsored post. B

Deppster

Went to see Public Enemies the other day with my girlfriend. Take your love to see Johnny Depp, why don't you? I as a straight male can see the appeal. He comes across as pensive and sensitive and has an interesting look about him. I loved what must have been the pitch to Chocolate: "Right, we'll have a film for the ladies, featuring Johnny Depp and chocolate, can't fail."

Writing jobs

The good news is that I am getting more and more serious about generating an income through writing. I'm signed up with several jobs listing sites and writing and proofreading jobs are starting to come in, a development with which I am very happy indeed.

My intention is to build up a portfolio of work done and market myself semi-professionally. I enjoy making money doing what I enjoy; writing. It's all good, girlfriend..

Glorious food

Went for a wonderful meal with my good lady last weekend. We retreated to the Italian district of Leichhardt and had a superb meal. The wine was wonderful, the food delicious and the service perfect, attentive but not intrusive, charming but not fawning. Just wonderful.

Fern, Fern

She never struck me as the sharpest tool in the box but Fern Britten, English tv and radio presentor has outdone herself. The satyrical mag Private Eye collects silly public utterances and on their pages you can actually read the following gem, courtesy of Fern:

"Did your great-grandfather have any children?"
FERN BRITTON

I just love that one. It's the best yet. A cracker.
