London

We're off to London this weekend to catch a comedy performance. I hope the weather gods will smile down on us as we'll be walking around a lot too. I love just strolling around London and taking in the sights. It's quite a place, really. I am always impressed with the sheer size of the city whenever I am there. It just seems to stretch forever towards the horizon. I will report back on the comedy show in due course.

Press Release:

GHOST OF CHRISTMAS PAST HAUNTS INDEBTED BRITS

- New price saving site launches to save Brits up to 20% this Christmas -

As the nation approaches the final countdown to Christmas, new research rings alarm bells over the financial impact of Christmas in credit crunch Britain. The research from the new money saving website Savebuckets.com reveals that as Brits prepare for Christmas, many are still paying off last year’s festive spending.

With 41 per cent of Britons paying for Christmas on credit last year, almost one in five are still paying for last year’s festivities (17%), fewer than one in three having cleared their Christmas debts when their January credit card bill arrived (29%).

Following a year of consumer confidence in 2006, Christmas spending soared 52 per cent in two years (from an average £548 per adult in 2004* to £837 per adult in 2006), with over one in five Brits spending over £1,000 on Christmas last year (22%). This year, with spending power at its lowest level for 10 years**, consumers are feeling the financial hangover from a more confident Christmas enjoyed on the credit card and loans.

Alarmingly, it is cash strapped youngsters and low income earners who, having spent the most on last Christmas, are most likely to be feeling the repercussions of last year’s spending spree (see figures below).

The research into the financial impacts of last Christmas amongst a GB representative sample of 2,000 British adults was carried out by the new money savings website Savebuckets.com which launches this week to enable Brits to get more for their money this Christmas.

With these alarming figures in mind, Savebuckets.com will give shoppers the opportunity to save up to 20% on their Christmas shopping. Putting consumers back in control of their spending, the site searches over 700 retailers for the best price on around one million products. The site includes a unique price checker which allows consumers to set the price they want to pay for items, notifying them when the price of a product falls to within their budget.

My domain

At the moment I am looking around for a good affordable blog hosting service where I would be able to register a domain name for a blog. There is lots on offer but I am a bit loath to pay too much just for the privilege of having a blog with its own domain name. On the other hand bloggers with more experience than me keep telling me it's imperative to own your blog's domain. I'll keep looking around for a good deal. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Mortages and so on

I heard the other day about Bad Credit Mortgage Ireland and a firm that deals with specialist mortgages. They have recently opened offices in Dublin, the capital city of Ireland. With access to all the mortgage lenders in Ireland, Money Options can get you the highest amount at the best rate and approval within twenty-four hours. This is a lightning speed delivery of service, I think you will agree.

In many cases they can reduce your monthly outgoings for your mortgage by fifty percent, which, of course, is not to be sniffed at. You can self certify if you are self-employed so this firm is able to help all types of potential customers. First time buyers can get up to 100% mortgages with a possible first six month freeze on payments.

Mortgages and the concomitant monthly costs are something most of us have to deal with. There is no getting around it. And often we don’t realise that there is a better offer out there waiting for us to snap it up. The choice on offer of mortgages these days is immense and it pays to look around. More and more we can speak of a customers’ market when it comes to mortgages and the deals that are available. A savvy customer can save lots of money, that is for sure.

No Halloween pranksters

I didn't get any trick or treaters last night. I had prepared a big bowl of sweets for any passing juvenile witches or vampires, but no, alas, not one of them rang our doorbell. I did see a few skeletons and monsters walking down the street but that's about all. Oh well. Not to worry. I suppose I will have to eat all those sweets myself now. Poor me!

College days

Did you ever come across any information concerning Ohio Nursing Schools ? Well, I just have and would like to share some of what I found out with you all. Hondros College has a number of locations around Ohio, Cincinatti, Cleveland, Dayton, Toledo and Wisconsin. The College offers a comprehensive package of courses, such as courses in real estate, insurance, appraisal, mortgage, nursing. There are also courses available in title insurance, home inspection, financial services and more.

The College also takes care of a continuing education programme. Everyone must surely realise the value of a useful course, or indeed of an education in general.
I wasn’t the best of students myself but I evolved into somewhat of an autodidact in later life. You can’t always tell which way life will turn, after all!

Oil makes the world go round

We don't like the regimes in Zimbabwe or Burma, but we welcome the Monarch of Saudi-Arabia; that paradise of democracy and enlightened humanity in the Middle East. Nevermind the oppression of women who aren't even allowed to drive a flipping car, or the public beheadings. Or the fact that a large number of the jihadis involved in 9/11 were Saudis, all that is of no importance. What matters is that we can buy oil from them and they in turn buy arms, aircraft and weaponry from us. It's enought to turn one a tad cynical, methinks.
