A stay in the Lake District

On my way back from a Christmas celebration up in Scotland last year I spent some time in the truly amazing Lake District in the North of England. This area is incredibly beautiful with its stunning mountains or fells, its dreamy lakes and rugged hills and green fields. It really is an outdoor paradise and you cannot choose a better area to visit if you are into hill walking or climbing. At the time I was extremely impressed with how the landscape at once seemed rugged and wild but also lovely and gentle with its green meadows with rocks and boulders strewn around as if by some friendly giant’s scattering hand. I simply loved it, I can assure you.

I stayed in Kendall near Lake Windermere and was impressed with the immediate area. If I were to visit the Lake District again I might be tempted to stay at the Lake District Hotel, which is located near Derwent Water, another of the famous lakes. When you walk around the area you can see how it inspired the great Romantic painters and nature poets such as William Wordsworth. It really is an amazingly beautiful landscape and I would recommend a visit or a holiday in the Lake District to anyone. I think I would like to return and enjoy an extended walking holiday. It is a great place to get out into the open air and revive all of your senses at once. Fabulous!
