Red, red wine

Last night I enjoyed a glass or two of a nice Cotes du Rhone from Waitrose. It was a nice little wine, smooth and not at all sweet. I can't really stand sweet wines. It needs to be just right, not bitter or sharp but nice and smooth and lovely and full-bodied. That is my preference. I do like heady strong wines, especially the Spanish reds as well. Wine, lovely stuff, eh?

Boris is the new Mayor of London

Boris Johnson, the lovable gaff-prone toff, has won the election for Mayor of London. No longer will we have to suffer the leftoid anti-semite Livingstone with his fancy for newts and Hugo Chavez. We'll have lots of fun with Boris in the press as I'm sure he will liven things up no end. Well done, Boris, my old son!

Magic gold

‘Gold..’, do you remember that iconic Spandau Ballet song? It was a big hit in the eighties and we all danced to tune of those lyrics about gold and what have you. Some of those eighties bands were so funny with their big hair and shoulder pads. Endearingly silly, I think you may easily describe them. But the use of the word ‘gold’ was a clever one. Everyone can imagine something when they hear or say that particular word. It conjures up visions of opulence and great wealth but also firm assets in a very insecure world, you must agree.

Whether you collect rare gold coins or are an investor in gold bullion, you will have had the chance to recognize the immense value of gold as an investment asset. You can’t beat it for financial security; that much is certain.

The World II

Some people I know have argued that there is no such thing as pure evil and that even when people carry out deeds that can be described as evil the perpetrators are of the opinion that what they do is for the best. I can’t agree. When you hear about the abuse case in Austria and see the picture of the degenerate father who committed such awful crimes, it is clear that evil does exist. No question.

The World

The world is a funny place. It is both terrifying and beautiful. It has some wonderful and caring people in it, capable of great deeds of kindness. It also has people walking its surface like that Austrian monster who abused his daughter and kept her locked up in a cellar for years on end. You have to wonder about people like that.
