Rare coins

Some people have hobbies and enjoy spending time on them accordingly. Other people have passions they cannot do without. These leisurely pastimes or spare time pursuits can be whatever you like. Some like collecting postal stamps, some go for long hikes in the country, yet others love reading and writing and so on and so forth.

But a hobby or personal interest can sometimes be quite lucrative as well. For instance, if you are into buying and selling rare coins you could really be on to something good. Experts in rare coins such as for example Monaco can present you opportunities that are available for you on the rare coin market right now. This could be well worth looking into and it may well be very profitable as well.

Something to think about

There is a thought-provoking article in the Spectator about the state of the nation and more general tensions in the liberal democracies we all know and love. Using examples from history David Selbourne notices parallels between today's malaise and other periods when a crisis mood was brewing. His remarks on the dubious influence of islam in Western countries are very insightful and well worth reading.

The internet, as we all know, can be used for a great many things. But sometimes it can be simply good to use it for fun. For instance, playing Instant Win Games can be really good fun.

Instant win games on the internet may include things such as contests, scratch-off tickets, sweepstakes, and a great many more. You can get all manner of prizes such as cash or coupons or gifts. So, if you want to have some fun and win prizes instantly why not have a go?

Spring? Really?

Today I spent me lunch hour sitting on a park bench in a park. So far, so good. The sun was out and it was positively toasty, let me assure you. Next to me on the lawn someone was doing his Tai Chi postures, birds were twittering and all was well with the world. Sometimes it's pretty good to be alive on this old mortal coil of ours. Wouldn't you say so?

Leona Lewis

There is a nice little article about Leona Lewis on the BBC News site today. Apparently, she is enjoying some amazing US chart success at the moment. I'm pleased that she's doing well as I think she came across as a genuine person with talent when I saw her performances on the X-Factor shows. Usually, I only watch the first few shows of that type of programme when they roll out the freaks and morons for us to poke fun at for a while.
But Leona Lewis, a secretary at the time, seemed really nice and unassuming but had a great voice. She didn't seem the type of person that has tickets on themselves either. I'm glad that she is doing well but someone needs to give her a plaster already..

Mothers Day gifts

Where to look for those great mothers day gift ideas? Sure, chocolates and flowers are always welcome, few would argue with that. But if you are looking for something a bit more original then you may want to head on over to Photofiddle.com where you can have your photos produced into great-looking works of art. This would make for a great mothers day gift.

Rain

Rain, rain go away. Don't come back another day. We had some weird weather over the Easter weekend. Sunny one moment, rain and grey skies the next, mixed with some flurries of snow and the odd hail storm just for good measure. Where are those blue skies, already! Spring, come on down!

Cancun weddings

Romance can take place in many settings but none are more luxurious and exotic than Mexico and wonderful Cancun. Mexico is a truly glorious destination for a romantic getaway or wedding location. I would heartily recommend a romantic cancun vacation for anyone who is keen to experience that sunshine romance for themselves.

Tying the knot at one of these resorts means getting married in an oceanfront gazebo, decorated with flowers or even under the swaying palm trees. It genuinely is a unique location for a unique and special occasion. Mexico is one of the most romantic destinations in the world and getting married there will make your happiest day even more memorable.

Cat hospitality

We had some visitors staying last weekend for Easter and for once our two lovely cats were on their best behaviour. They were charming, upbeat and engaged with our visitors in a thoroughly hospitable manner. Not a snarl or a growl was heard between them and they were utterly matey and chummy. And to think that they are sisters and, at times, a tad jealous of one another. Nicely done, girls!

Have you 'Been Seen?'

Travel broadens the mind they say and ‘they’ are absolutely right. I love to travel and see some of the world’s exotic places in far flung destinations. There is so much to see and so many wonderful sights to behold. If I could I would do a lot more travelling but just popping over to Paris every now and then is a genuine thrill.

A few years ago I visited Hong Kong for a few days and that gave me a taste for Asia and I will definitely go back and explore China and South-East Asia in much more detail.

A great website for travellers everywhere is Been Seen which aims to be a fun as well as artistic website and also to establish a community of like-minded travellers who want to explore and share aesthetic and interesting travel experiences with each other.

Been Seen adopts a creative and visually artistic point of view when it comes to the concept of travel. It is all about searching out places that are remote and beautiful which reflect simple luxury.

Check out this wonderful website and experience a difference in where and how we travel.

Snapbomb is here!

I just found about a very interesting paid to blog site with the intriguing name Snapbomb. This looks like a very promising blog review site and I am happy to create a bit of a buzz for them. I always welcome a new paid to review site when one comes along. As far as I am concerned Snapbomb looks like it could really work well for both bloggers and advertisers.

Blog advertising can really do wonders for a product or a company’s service. The exposure provided by a good blog post cannot be underestimated. What I like about Snapbomb is the speed with which you can register with them. You then submit your blogs for appraisal and within seconds you receive an estimate of your blog’s value.

I think this could be a really good site for bloggers and advertisers looking for blog marketing. Good luck, Snapbomb!

Shaggy dog story or: major weirdo alert

The news these days just gets stranger and stranger, and ever more trivial. On the BBC website a bizarre little story about a couple who decided to collect the hair from their deceased much-loved dog and make it into his and her jumpers (see photo). Lovely stuff! I wonder why they didn't choose to make the ex-doggie into a pair of gloves as well. They could even have made its arse into a nice little bonnet for the lady of the house...

A tasty bit of architecture

The good old Notre Dame in Paris, basking in winter sunshine. "She gave me water!", you can imagine Quasimodo dragging his knuckles all the way up to the bell tower, lovelorn over little Esmeralda. But of course it's a stunning edifice that cannot fail to impress.

Through the Mills

The much reviled Heather Mills received a nice little payout yesterday as part of the proceedings of her divorce from Paul McCartney. A tidy sum of nearly 25 million pounds for a four-year marriage to an ex-Beatle. Originally she filed for £125.000.000 which would have been even nicer but you can't have everything. I heard on the radio today that her auto-biography is entitled 'Out on a Limb', which seems incredibly crass because of her missing a leg.

She can't stop talking about all she does for charity and while blaming the press for her anguish she is always seeking publicity. I cannot say that I was very aware of her existence before her much-publicised break-up with Sir Paul.

It's unbelievable, however, to see just how much vitriol is heaped upon her by the newspapers, and especially the tabloids. It's one thing to take a dislike to a brazen, brassy woman whom you suspect from being a bit of a gold digger but there have been so many horrible jokes and insults based on her losing a leg in a terrible motorcycle accident a few years ago. When the press over here don't like you you'd better run for cover or muster everything you've got in protecting your self.

The Rose

Is there anything more lovely as well as dainty and refined as a single rose? The sheer floral elegance conveyed by this most majestic of flowers is stunning. I would go further and venture to wax lyrical to the point of declaring the rose a veritable regal presence in the world of flowers, greens and plants. No wonder tending roses has always been a most lofty occupation or pastime.

In England rose gardens are still highly prized and for many people their rose garden is their genuine pride and joy. And it is easy to see why; the lovely delicate flowers with their fine petals, the bulbous shape of the flower itself. All this coupled with the enigmatic thorny stems. It is an intriguing combination that sets the imagination racing.

Of course, buying some bulk roses for a special occasion is always a good idea. There seems to be a type of rose for any occasion and everyone loves receiving a fine bouquet of roses.

Iphones

Technology is a wondrous thing that has indeed enhanced the lives of most of us. Can you imagine having to do without your email account or MP3 player or smart phone? Of course you would be able to do without these technological features but would you want to do that? I certainly would not and I don’t think many others would either.

Most people who are the proud owners of an iphone 2.0 would probably agree with me that the ease and comfort of their iphone is something that has changed their lives for the better and I would certainly be able to understand why they would feel that way.

There is a very useful iphone forum where you can discuss all manner of things relating to the apple iphone sdk so be sure to check it out. It really is a great forum to chat and discuss iphone sdk applications, general SDK topics and more.

It is well worth looking into. Have a go and see for yourself how this forum can be of use to you. You will find something of interest, I am sure!

Polish Dublin

After an absence of about two years I was in Dublin again over the weekend and found, once more, that the Polish community is still very visibly present in the Irish capital. Everywhere you go you hear people speaking Polish, you see an abundance of Polish shops and so on. I thought it might have reached its peak by now but the immigration waves still seem to be going strong. Dublin is a great city with a very agreeable atmosphere. I had a great time just walking around, stopping in at a few of the grand old pubs. Great stuff!

Bedrooms and such

The bedroom needs to be a haven of peace, an oasis of tranquillity; simply put it needs to a proper sanctuary in which to retreat from the world and one’s daily cares and mundane troubles. When the working day is over and the needs of the day and evening are looked after it is here where one needs to be to withdraw from everything else and focus on relaxation and bliss. At least that is what I think, and I think that I am right.

If I were to have one of those bespoke fitted bedrooms I would opt for something elegant but still comfortable. I could not really relax in something that is too pristine or museum-like in its appearance. I would want to be comfy but also to have the feeling that I am surrounded by a fine, elegant boudoir, if you will.

The colours would have to be subtle and light so as to maximise brightness and an airy feeling. I would steer clear of pastel colours as I am not too keen on those. The fittings would be modern or classic but stylish at any rate and the furniture would be of a certain good quality. I don’t think you can cut corners there but that is my opinion.

Sunshine

It has been a bright sunny day and I feel as though I want to run out and drag Spring into being right now. I long for the warmth and promise of Spring, in may ways my favourite of the seasons. The weekend will be nice and warm, I hope, and perhaps I may go for a long, long walk in the woods if I get the chance. Here's hoping!

Bread, man!

Last night I enjoyed a late night snack in the guise of cheese on toast. I used some garlic mayonaise and English mustard and the result was a feast for the senses. Sometimes the nicest thing is just a piece of bread with something nice on it. Sometimes a sandwich will just hit the spot. Another nice snack I like is a peanut butter sandwich with a glass of milk. Stop press, I hear you groan but there you are..

Monday, Monday

Bit of a gloomy Monday, not sure why really. The weather is sunny at one moment, raining cats and dogs the next. It is a typical Monday, let us say. But not to worry, before you know it the day is over and it's homewards for a nice evening of relaxing with my darling wife. And there is nothing that's better than that!

Easy

Spent an enjoyable Saturday evening. Watched a good film, had a laugh and sipped quietly from a fine whisky. All very nice indeed. Sometimes it's just good to relax and not do very much at all. After a week's running around at work and what not it was good to wind down at last. Let's hear it for Saturday night!
