Today at around lunch time my darling wife and I both had a yearning for some nice fish and chips. Usually we have a choice of outlets to get some from, including one 'proper' chippy in the High Street. But, wouldn't you know it? All of the usual haunts were shut so we had to come up with an alternative plan. We ended up buying some nice breaded haddock at the local supermarket (which of course never seems to close), some big fat Harry Ramsden chips and returned home to make our own.
It was very nice and not nearly as greasy as a take-away. After all, we had done some exercise today and it would be a shame to negate those efforts by eating a greasy fatty meal. With some peas and some nice tartar sauce we gobbled up our D.I.Y. fish and chips in silent agreement that this was a very nice meal indeed.
