Watched a documentary on the BBC tonight dealing with the conficts between different category of road users. Mostly it was about the animosity that motorists feel towards cyclists and vice versa. Also, about how dangerous it can be to cycle in the UK where many car owners seem to feel that they deserve to dominate the roads. Some cyclists, it has to be said, don't help their case by constantly ignoring the basic traffic rules as if they are of the opinion that rules and regulations don't apply to them, semi-outlaws in lycra. It strikes me as odd that simply riding a bike can be considered to be life-style choice. Where I come from (Holland) it is merely a mode of transport and a popular one at that. No need to get dressed up as if you're about to scale Everest. Just get on yer bike!
