Dr Offit

The field of medicine is an amazingly complex world that just keeps on surprising you with new and interesting finds. I have to say that although I have seen the limits of what the medical profession can do for some people in need, I do admire doctors, surgeons and medical researchers for the many wonderful things they are trying to accomplish.

Take for instance Dr. Paul Offit, a pediatrician who specialises in infectious disease medicine as well as an internationally known expert on vaccines, immunology, and virology. He is the Maurice R. Hilleman Professor of Vaccinology and also Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Offit is a most remarkable medical man who is the co-author of several books, such as Breaking the Antibiotic Habit (1999), Vaccines: What You Should Know (2003), The Cutter Incident: How America’s First Polio Vaccine Led to Today’s Growing Vaccine Crisis (2005), and Vaccinated: One Man's Quest to Defeat the World's Deadliest Diseases (2007). I would recommend his fascinating books to anyone with an interest in this important field.
