Forum blogging

Just started blogging again over at Blogger Party. I used to hang out there more often and made some good virtual friends, some of whom are still there and I've managed to hook up with them all over again. The fun bit is all the comments that come in after you posted something. It's fun to read them and to respond as well. Good stuff!

Help with artery problems

Medical science is making some amazing advances these days and most everyday the news is filled with more success stories from the medical field. It really is quite impressive what the medical world is capable of these days and that, in itself, is encouraging to know. For instance, the Artery Health Institute is doing some amazing work with EDTA chelation and also EDTA chelation therapy.

There is so much that can be done. You can opt to have your arteries unclogged in order to restore the cardiovascular function. This is well worth looking into if you suffer from this ailment. This therapy is completely safe and natural and moreover has been used successfully for more than fifty years and somehow your heart doctor will never tell you about it. Plaque is dissolved throughout your entire circulatory system. It can reverse atherosclerosis, lower cholesterol levels and blood pressure and help to prevent heart attacks and strokes. This could be very helpful to a great many people who seek answers to their artery problems.

The Artery Health Institute can help you by providing EDTA oral chelation so you may want to do some further research into the possibilities that are on offer.

End of Vorderman era

Sometimes it makes me laugh to consider the trivial stories that dominate the news. This weekend's big news so to speak was that Carol Vorderman is leaving the popular tv programme 'Countdown' after being asked to accept a ninety percent paycut. She was earning millions for doing the number crunching on this quiz but Channel Four executives though they'd get rid of Carol after a few decades of gracing the show. Poor old Carol.

Why not study online?

It is always a good idea to increase your skills base and keep working on improving your study or work situation. Studying in your very own free time and when you like to plan your studies in-between your other activities is a great way to gain a qualification of any kind. At Capella University’s online colleges this is what they do best. There are a whole host of courses to choose from and they provide degree qualifications on many levels and in a wide variety of subjects.

Studying for a course online has become a very convenient way to get a degree in your chosen field. It is just so very convenient. There are so many courses to choose from and if you are good at time management there is no better way to learn. You can study at your own pace and according to your own schedule where you just work around your other obligations, often while already working in your current job. Check it out as this is a great way to get ahead.

German adulation for Obama

Very funny post on Tim Blair’s blog about the extraordinary worshipping of Barack Obama in Berlin yesterday. Blair has an acerbic wit and uses it to great effect in this post about the thousands of Germans who turned out to see a foreign politician. It had me in stitches, I have to admit..

Blogging

Just started blogging a bit over at BloggerParty again. I remember I used to enjoy writing there as there was such a supportive and interesting group of regulars. Some of the commenting is really quite intelligent and people write well-informed posts that are always 'about something' if you will.

I hope to be able to write a bit more every now and then. Perhaps I can get back in touch with some of the itinerant Aussies who used to requent that blog platform. Blogging is funny; once you start it's difficult to give up the habit.

That wonderful gold

Most people have, at some stage, dreamt of what it would be like to be truly rich. One of the images that denote real luxury and riches has to be the sight of those amazing gold items that are so impressive to just look at such as jewellery and art objects. At Monex Precious Metals you can invest in gold bars, gold bullion, coins, silver, platinum and palladium and other products. And, as everyone well knows, investing in gold is generally one of the safest options that will keep their worth in years to come. You can’t really go wrong with gold, that is for sure.

Of course it is always a good idea to keep yourself informed of the current gold price .Buying gold has been recognized for ages and ages as one of the most reliable ways to preserve one’s wealth and buying power. And of course gold bullion is a unique investment, that goes without saying. From time immemorial to more recent times, humankind has had an enduring affinity with gold bullion that has truly stood the test of time. In all ages and across the world, people have been fascinated with the beauty and the magic of gold. These days the beauty of a gold bar must lie in its proven capacity to diversify investments, to protect wealth and also to preserve one’s purchasing power. Purchasing gold is really a great investment and one that you can rely on whatever happens.

Sunglasses

I just can’t seem to find the right kind of sunglasses. I know what I am looking for but perhaps they are just too eighties or something. All I can find are enormous glasses that make you look like a part-time welder or flimsy little things that break when you look through them for the first time. Woe is me!

Shoes

I like buying new shoes even though I am not a woman and no great fan of Imelda Marcos. But there is something nice about getting a pair of nice new shoes, with that fresh leather smell than makes you think of so many things. I don’t wear plastic vegan shoes or nasty smelly trainers. I believe that you can tell a lot about a person from the type of shoes they wear. So there..

Mobile medical help

Doctors, general practitioners and physicians do have to move about these days. They make house calls, go to other hospitals and surgeries, conferences and generally get to see patients in places outside of their own practice or surgery. So, how useful do you think it would be if they could have an online access to their drugs reference resources such as a mobile CME. Obviously, that would greatly enhance the service that medical staff can provide to patients.

Doctors can now have all sorts of drug information always on call with Epocrates. Perhaps you are not aware that more than half of doctors own a PDA (personal digital assistant) or a smart phone. PDA medical software by companies, such as Epocrates, Inc., can be credited in a very easy way for making pocket-size devices a common thing in physicians’ equipment. This is a real improvement to the working life of medical professionals.

“This announcement was paid for by Epocrates.”

Swimming

I like swimming but I hardly ever get around to doing it. I like swimming in a lake or the sea when the weather is nice but I am not too keen on indoor swimming pools. Just the din of all the voices gathered together and amplified by the acoustics drives me mad. But I am hoping to do a lot more swimming when I am in Sydney. There are no less than seventy beaches around the city apparently. Can't wait!

Nowadays many people suffer from carpal tunnel syndrome as a result of working with computers for long periods of time. This is fast becoming a real and pressing problem for many workers and computer users. And, of course, it is not easy to find any solutions to this medical ailment. Radio show

I was listening to Russel Brand's podcast of the radio show he hosts on BBC Radio 2 and, once again, really enjoyed it. The banter between him and his partner Matt Morgan was truly entertaining. I always listen to this podcast but sometimes I grow tired of the puerile and infantile subject matter. Sometimes it's like listening to some school boys hiding behind the bike shed getting up to no good. But this episode was spot on again. Good one!

Maudlin

The absence of any sign of summer is slightly deflating, I'm sorry to say. It does have an effect on me, this lack of sunshine to brighten up my mood. I can see why the Scandinavian countries with their eternal winters have such a high proportion of suicides and alcoholism. It just gets you down those grey skies. Oh well.

A friend of mine is going on a safari to Kenya and is hoping to get some better weather while out there. She is particularly keen to see giraffe and I can fully understand that. I think it would be quite something to see some of those elegant creatures running across the plains. I hope she has a nice time. Personally, I've never been attracted to visting Africa although I'm sure that it is fascinating. There are only so many places one can see and you have to prioritise. That is unless you make world travel your raison d'etre like some other friends of mine who never cease travelling and who have been nearly everywhere at least once.

Bottoms up

Just went for a drink after work with a friend. She has a few glasses of white wine while I partook of a couple of pints of bitter. It was warm inside in the bar where we found ourselves chatting away and drinking our drinkie drinks. It's nice to catch up with friends you haven't seen for a while and this was no different. Bottoms up indeed!

Family Guy

It is not that often that something on television gives me real pleasure. However, I have to admit that Family Guy really cracks me up. I'm glad it's back after having been cancelled for over two years. Finally there is something that is genuinely funny, not afraid to offend the PC brigade and full to bursting with sometimes quite obscure eighties references. I think Stewie is a fabulous character and the fact that he sort of sounds like Rick Mayall only helps. Great fun..

Glenn Beck

As long as I can remember I have always enjoyed comedy and satire. Growing up in Holland there was a fine tradition of sending up politicians and people in positions of leadership. In fact, there was a tradition of tolerance for the making fun of everyone and everything. I remember some fine examples that still make me laugh. But even then I used to watch American comedy and there what I loved was the zaniness, the general wackiness of the political satire and comedy. I remember fondly great episodes of Saturday Night Live with the likes of Dan Akroyd, Mr Belushi himself and of course Dana Carvey as President Bush (the elder).

I loved the impersonations and sketches of the high and mighty, brought down to earth for us mere mortals to have a laugh about. A truly open and confident society is one that can laugh at itself. That is my honest opinion.

Recently, I came across a comedian called Glenn Beck and some of his routines really had me in stitches. Check out his website to see some of his great videos. I particularly liked his video of the History of illegal immigration, which is very funny. Political satire is a delicate art but I think Glenn Beck has what it takes to deliver his comedy with aplomb. Check him out, he’s a riot!

Breakfast

In a minute, or two minutes, I will go downstairs and prepare for myself a delicious breakfast that will no doubt incorporate bacon and/or eggs. It is a glorious combination and you can't go wrong with that lovely combo. During the week I don't have that much time to partake of any serious attempt at breakfast but on the weekends I like to eat something substantial and filling. After all, I am a man who likes his breakfast.

Life and such

Feeling a bit contemplative this week. Am I really? Let me think about that..yes, I am. Just a bit more mellow than usual. Perhaps that is due to my recent two week holiday. It felt very good to get away from the daily grind and just chill out, kick back as well as hang loose. All work and no play makes muggins a dull boy, as I am sure you will agree.
Got back to England to find it was raining and blowing a nasty wind most days. But, to be fair, today is a lot better. I was beginning to get depressed at the prospect of another dud summer but perhaps there is some hope. Finger crossed, eh?
In other news, my little niece in Holland has taken up Karate. She is really into it and is enjoying being taught some valuable skills. Her dad, my brother, also likes the fact that with the fun comes a sense of responsibility and discipline as well. It's great to see her make a few moves, though. She is a gal not to be messed with!

Sleep disorder remedies

Is there really anything more vital to a person’s health and sense of well being than a good night’s sleep? I ask you. When you are feeling a bit low or under the weather, or when you have had a particularly bad day, quite often a good night’s rest can sort you out to a great extent and refresh you for a brand new day. You simply cannot underestimate the importance of having a good and healthy sleep pattern. It is in many ways the body’s response to the strains and stresses of life. It is the necessary down time for the mind and body.

That is also why the whole field of sleep study is so important and also fascinating. For people with a number of problems such as morning headaches, obesity, high blood pressure, night time perspiration, depression and many more besides, getting help from a sleep disorder center can really make a big difference to the quality of your life. And let’s face it, your health is the most important thing to consider, isn’t it?

For instance, the Florida sleep study center can help you if you are experiencing some of the problems described above. Whether it is anxiety, irritability, loud snoring, lack of energy or forgetfulness, this advanced sleep diagnostics center can help you out. Just give them a try if you are having trouble sleeping. After all, there is nothing more important than getting your forty winks!

Funny telly

After a drought in funny television tonight we'll see a new series of Mock the Week starting and also a new thing called Labrats, I think. Thursday evenings are usually good fun on the BBC as that's when they programme their finest comedy but it has been dire recently. I am looking forward to Mock the Week again with the brutally hilarious Frankie Boyle and others. Can't wait!

Patients assistance medication

I would like to draw your attention, if I may dear readers, to a wonderful set of Patient Assistance Programs that could really make a big difference to the lives of many people out there. I think people with a sense of social responsibility will recognize the importance of this. There is an opportunity to help those that are uninsured learn about available Patient Assistance Programs that are offered by pharmaceutical manufacturers. There are free medicines available for those that qualify and the thing is that many people do not know about these invaluable programs. A lot of people either go without or make do with too little medication that they really ought to have.

Bright morning

Surprise, quel surprise; no rain first thing this morning but rather a clear blue sky and some semblance of sunshine. What bliss! It's just so much nicer to start the day with a bit of brightness, especially when it should be summer, after all. Long may it continue. I've had quite enough of the rain already. Could this country be any wetter? as Chandler Bing would say..

A stay in the Lake District

On my way back from a Christmas celebration up in Scotland last year I spent some time in the truly amazing Lake District in the North of England. This area is incredibly beautiful with its stunning mountains or fells, its dreamy lakes and rugged hills and green fields. It really is an outdoor paradise and you cannot choose a better area to visit if you are into hill walking or climbing. At the time I was extremely impressed with how the landscape at once seemed rugged and wild but also lovely and gentle with its green meadows with rocks and boulders strewn around as if by some friendly giant’s scattering hand. I simply loved it, I can assure you.

I stayed in Kendall near Lake Windermere and was impressed with the immediate area. If I were to visit the Lake District again I might be tempted to stay at the Lake District Hotel, which is located near Derwent Water, another of the famous lakes. When you walk around the area you can see how it inspired the great Romantic painters and nature poets such as William Wordsworth. It really is an amazingly beautiful landscape and I would recommend a visit or a holiday in the Lake District to anyone. I think I would like to return and enjoy an extended walking holiday. It is a great place to get out into the open air and revive all of your senses at once. Fabulous!

Cheesy

Last week I spent a few days in Holland and I have to say that I really enjoyed myself. For one thing I enjoyed being able to eat some excellent Gouda cheese. That is a particular delight that is hard to come by in England. It is not easy to get my hands on mature Gouda here, which is a bit of a shame as I love that creamy Dutch dairy product. Yum!
