People just seem to find Belgium a very odd place. Great beers and great chips with mayonaise and a penchant for surrealism; that sums up Belgium for most English pundits. They seem to think it is a very odd and comical sort of place that just cannot be taken seriously. I find Belgium quite a nice place with a fine gastronomic culture but it has to be said it is a bit of an odd place. Comics are very surreal and just strange and in an usual way the place just doesn't seem to make sense. But then who am I to judge. They do damn good chips, though, and a nation that invented chips can't be all bad, I say.
