We sat down and watched the film 'The Motorcycle Diaries' last night. Being something of a staunch anti-communist I had expected some sort of hagiography of Che Guevara but I was pleasantly surprised. It turned out to be a fascinating road movie with some serious undertones, shot in a beautiful light and with a gentle soundtrack. I loved the footage of the landscapes of Argentina and Peru. It must be an astounding continent and one day I would like to see South America. Film is a great medium in that it allows you to sample something of the lives of people living in utterly different places. And it's good to remind myself that there is more to film than what Hollywood produces.
