We don't like the regimes in Zimbabwe or Burma, but we welcome the Monarch of Saudi-Arabia; that paradise of democracy and enlightened humanity in the Middle East. Nevermind the oppression of women who aren't even allowed to drive a flipping car, or the public beheadings. Or the fact that a large number of the jihadis involved in 9/11 were Saudis, all that is of no importance. What matters is that we can buy oil from them and they in turn buy arms, aircraft and weaponry from us. It's enought to turn one a tad cynical, methinks.
