Last weekend I was having a drink with my good lady in a lovely London pub. And it dawned on me that in contrast to when I still lived in Holland, here in England I like going to a bar or preferably a pub to have a nice pint of Bitter or some other liquid nectar. Over here anyone and everyone can go to the pub and enjoy a good time. In Holland it is usually mostly young people who feel comfortable drinking in bars and cafés. I love the fact that whether your young or old, trendy or geeky, fashionable or past your sell-by date, there is always a pub somewhere where you’ll feel at ease sinking a few. I think that’s grand.
