Driving along endless winding roads through the Borders, the trees and mountains covered in frost the world seemed to have been made just for us. Lateron, we found that the weather up north can be very fierce indeed. At time it was wild and wet, windy and stormy for hours on end. And the rain. It rained with a vengeance. You have to be made of stern stuff if you live up there. I am sure it will be better in summer but the wild and windy weather and lack of daylight made an impression on me..
