Lost and found tribe

Saw a story about a lost tribe of indigenous people in the Amazon who had been photographed by the crew of a helicopter flying over a remote stretch of the rain forest in Brazil near the Peruvian border. Read about it here and you can also see the picture taken. It's amazing that there are still lost tribes who think that a plane or chopper flying overhead must be a giant spirit or some strange bird. An expert on indigenous people on the radio this morning said that there are still about one hundred tribes living in the world who have not had contact with the outside world. The presenter asked him if any of these lived in the UK. Probably not, was the answer.

Solutions to problems

Since time immemorial people have sought to find solutions to problems. This is part and parcel of the human condition and I believe it is a credit to the human genius. When there is a problem we will try to find a solution. This equally applies to medical problems. If you have problems with your libido you may want to look into the uses of cialis. Generic cialis can be an answer to this common problem.

Dog diving

Just saw something funny as well as bizarre on one of those cheesy 'Animals do the funniest things' shows. A deep sea diver had taught his dog to dive. He devised a special diving helmet with all the gear and it turned out the dog just loves diving amongst the big fish and stingrays off the Cayman Islands. The dog really looked in his element playing with the marine life.

Great new show

There is a great new television series about to be launched and it just happens to be USA Network's new original series In Plain Sight, which by all accounts should prove to be a great success. The story seems an intriguing one to be sure: A United States Marshall charged with managing the witness protection team and the ways in which she deals with her professional and private life. I think the idea for the series is an excellent one and I will be sure to follow each episode as they are aired. This should be a great watch and a very thrilling one at that.

I think the character that I can most relate to has to be Raphael Ramirez, lover of Mary, the lead character. She seems to want to keep things on a casual level but Raphael is more than ready to take the next step in their relationship. I think I can understand a stance like that. I was never one for superficial relationships so I can sympathise with his feelings regarding Mary; the subject of his affections.

Yankee football

Last night I watched the England football team in action against the Americans at Wembley. It was only a friendly and England played some good football and won very comfortably by two goals to nil. It was nice to see Beckham get his hundredth cap. I always enjoy seeing him deliver those precise long passes to the forwards. The Americans didn’t really get a look-in and seemed quite mediocre. Not a very exciting game although we saw two good goals. Still, it’s a shame they won’t be part of the upcoming Euro finals.

In Plain Sight

Don’t you just love it when a great new television series is launched? I remember when I get into a drama or adventure series and just couldn’t wait until the next episode. Now I want to tell you about the USA Network's new original series In Plain Sight which is sure to become a great hit. It looks like a great idea for a fascinating television show and I will tell you all about it, never fear.

The premiere is on the first of June and you will love following this show. This is a crime drama featuring Mary McCormack as Mary Shannon whose job is to manage relocated witnesses in her capacity as a United States Marshall. The many witnesses in her care range from career criminals, congenital liars, thieves and murderers to those who have had the misfortune of witnessing a crime. A great premise for a show that is sure to grip all lovers of good drama.

Why don’t you try and find the image of Mary on the In Plain Sight website? It’s a bit of fun, go ahead and check it out!

Raindance

Okay, give over, who's been doing a rain dance recently? It's been pouring it down for days now and I fear that it's not going to change anytime soon. Is this the extent of an English spring or early summer? It's just weird to have to wear a woollen jumper at this time of year. I long for a few rays of sunshine already. Come on, Gaia!

A great gift

What to get for you dad for Father’s Day? It is not as easy as it sounds. Men just don’t make easy targets for gifts and presents and you will find that in general you will get a more useful response when you ask a woman or a girl what she would like for a present than is the case with us men. We are just simple creatures and when it comes to gifts and things like that we may lack just a bit of imagination. Men tend not to enjoy shopping either so we don’t come across that many new items we ‘just have to have’. That does not mean we don’t appreciate something cool or just plain fun, though.

If you are looking for a great gift for Father’s Day or someone who is due to graduate soon then why not surprise them with one of these Personalized flash drives that I am sure will go down very well. They come in fourteen great colours and you can have them engraved and also add a ‘theme’ so go ahead and check it out. This will make a fabulous personal gift for anyone.

Wash-out weekend

Another May Bank Holiday and another wet weekend. It appears that it is traditional for the rain to come pouring down whenever working people get an extra day off. Fun that. Ah..well. Even though the weather these days has become political, you still can't change it. Perhaps the summer will be another wash-out like last year. Let's hope not, eh..

The joy of Heineken

The unique British male is a funny sort of specimen, to be sure. On the one hand passionate about sports and other matters of interests but also quite reserved when it comes to physical shows of emotion and affection. This is quite different on the Continent where men are not afraid to give their mates a genuine and heart-felt European Man Hug.

No doubt the enjoyment of a fine beer like Heineken goes a long way in this brotherly easy way of dealing with their friends. Heineken, after all, is a superb Dutch beer, ideally and traditionally served with a big head of froth. Just the way a Dutchman likes his beer. If you have never sampled a Heineken you really must give it a go. If you have you should have another. Cheers!

A house in Spain

Oh England, my Lionheart..I love living in England, dear old Blighty, I really do. I make no bones about the fact that there are a multitude of things that I really love about living in the United Kingdom. I like the fact that I can go to a café and get a fabulous full English breakfast. I am totally smitten with the green hills, the winding roads, the wonderful country pubs with usually an outstanding real ale on draught. I love the sense of humour of the people here and how easy going they really are.

But there are also some days when I grow tired of the weather and the low, grey skies for weeks on end during some parts of the winter. I know there are more important things in live than merely the weather but it does play a part in people’s sense of well-being and all round general happiness. You cannot argue with that. So, perhaps I should consider one of the Spanish Property Investments on offer from Our Home Abroad, the Spain property experts in the field. Who would not want to have a house in sunny, glorious Spain? I know I would and then some. I have always simply loved Spain and its laid-back fun lifestyle.

Just walking around a major Spanish city is a joy to me. There are fine restaurants and great cafes everywhere. I love the coffee in Spain; I think nowhere has better black coffee. Being a red-blooded male I have to admit I am not impervious to the charms of the Iberian signoritas either. Or going to a Flamenco bar and joining in can be great fun as well. The beaches, the mountains, the cities; Spain has it all in spades and all of this is usually warmed up nicely by that wonderful sunshine. Who could ask for more?

The March on Moscow

English descend on Moscow

Fun and games tonight as Chelsea play Man United in Moscow and tens of thousands of football fans travel to see the Champions League final. Apparently, kick-off isn't until 10.45 local time so that could be interesting with fans hanging around all day. It's a good thing they're all avowed tea-totallers.

Someone posted this on a related forum today:

"Some good old-fashioned women's logic in work today. Girl asks, 'why are two English teams playing in Moscow?' Other girl replies, 'I think Chelsea's owner paid for it to be moved there...'"

Cesc Fabregas show

Everyone who likes English football and following the Premier League, which is the best and most exciting football competition in the world will be familiar with the name Cesc Fabregas. This is Arsenal’s star player, an amazing talent who has won many games for them in great style. He truly is one of the great players in football and Arsenal are very lucky to have him.

You may want to check out the new The Cesc Fabregas show which will air on Sky Sports on May, 19th at 6.30PM and 9.30PM. It is well worth watching as this player is something else.

Knackered

Feeling a bit cream-crackered this fine morning but at least it is a fine morning. The sun is out, the air is fresh and the skies are an azure blue to rival the interior of the St.Mark's Basilica in Venice. Or is that a bit over the top? I like a bit of hyperbole every now and then, don't you? It just makes things a little more interesting. And you can always take it back, after all. Or can you?

Drive my Chevvy to the levvy

Cars are a great passion for many men. And these days you can pick and choose from a bewildering array of brands from all over the world. More recently I have been noticing more motor cars from the United States on Britain’s roads. In fact, Chevrolet Europe now market their range in Europe and the United Kingdom. For instance, the new Chevrolet Epica is available at a great price and looks like a fantastic vehicle. Check it out, you Chevrolet lovers!

Dumplings

Went to my favourite local Chinese restaurant last night and secured me a nice take-away to munch on. Of course, I ordered dumplings for a starter as I love these little bundles of delight. You get five pork dumplings they are just great. I never thought I would like Dim Sum but it's fantastic. The flavours of the dumplings combined with the sharp tart taste of the accompanying sauce is a treat. And you have to treat yourself every now and then, right?

Komodo dragon

Nice doggie!
I was just watching a programme on the box about the dreaded Komodo dragon. What a terrible beast! One clip saw a group of them running towards the camera, all claws and muscular limbs. What creepy creatures these lizards really are. I once read a story about a German tourist to the island of Komodo who was warned to be extra vigilant while roaming the countryside. The poor bugger had fallen asleep underneath a tree and ended up dragon food. All that was left of him underneath the tree were his steel-rimmed glasses and his photo camera. Lovely.

Love

Love is a mightily fickle mistress. It comes and goes and you will never be sure that it will stay. Just when you consider yourself the luckiest blighter on the globe and you are getting ready to sit down and count your blessings love ups sticks and legs it, possibly never to be seen again. But let's not get morbid on this groovy Saturday evening. There is much yet to play for, amigos. Never say die, and all that jazz.

The Misbegotten

Just bought a track on Napster: 'The Misbegotten' by the Charlatans. I heard this song first in an item on telly about their latest album and immediately loved it. I always know in a split second when I really like a song. It is instant and full-on. This particular song is one of those driving anthems with some great lyrics and a dirty rock-and-roll feel to it. I'm listening to it on my music player all the time. Ripper!

Cheese

One thing I miss about Holland is the wonderful mature Gouda cheese I used to enjoy so much. Richly flavoured creamy mature Gouda; just fantastic on a slice of white bread. You can get Gouda cheese here in the United Kingdom but it is usually the young factory processed variety which is not the real deal as far as I am concerned. I will soon spend a few days in Gouda and will surely enough have myself some gorgeous cheese. Hmmm...

Belgium, a raw deal II

People just seem to find Belgium a very odd place. Great beers and great chips with mayonaise and a penchant for surrealism; that sums up Belgium for most English pundits. They seem to think it is a very odd and comical sort of place that just cannot be taken seriously. I find Belgium quite a nice place with a fine gastronomic culture but it has to be said it is a bit of an odd place. Comics are very surreal and just strange and in an usual way the place just doesn't seem to make sense. But then who am I to judge. They do damn good chips, though, and a nation that invented chips can't be all bad, I say.

Belgium, a raw deal

In England people rarely talk about Holland. They just don't seem to have any interest in the country, apart from the usual squalid fascination with its open attitude towards things like drugs and prostitution. France, of course is the neighbouring country with which England has a long-standing fierce rivalry. Countless wars were fought between these two great nations and one spies the other with a strange mixture of suspicion and admiration. But Belgium? To be continued..

Phone calls

Personally, I love to make free or cheap phone calls to my friends and family, scattered around the world as they are. There was a time where this would have been far too expensive to consider doing on a regular basis. It just would not have been an option but that has all changed with the advent of computers and the internet and all sorts of fantastic new phone communication technology.

Likewise, for businesses the different forms of VoIP phone systems have become very important. For instance, the Nimbus VoIP telephone systems by Xpander have been specially designed to be the most user friendly business phone systems available. Do check them out as they can benefit businesses, big or small and you won’t be disappointed.

Forests

I am a Sylvan type, I must admit. I love nothing better than to roam around a forests and take in the sights and smells of that most strange of habitats. It makes me think of fairy-tales and legends, of folklore and mythology and my mind is transported to a realm where altogether different notions prevail. Far removed from the mundane workaday mentality I feel when in a forest that I am in touch with some fundamental primeval life-force. I found this also when we were in the ancient forests of Tasmania. It just felt so incredibly ancient, still, yet powerfully alive. Mesmerizing.

Pizza

When I was a young man I went travelling around Europe with two friends, both of whom were called Paul. I thought of adopting the name Paul for the duration of the trip myself to avoid confusion but thought better of it. In Naples we enjoyed a great tasting pizza in a tiny local restaurant where there had never been any tourists. There was a giant stone oven located in the middle of the place and the pizze it produced all came out smelling like, well pizze.
In a corner of the restaurant there was a family having dinner and their little baby kept crying all the time. Every now and then the father would put his bottle of beer to the nipper's screaming mouth and the baby would be placated by a few sips of Italian beer. The restaurant was blissfully quiet for a few moments until the bloke took the bottle away after which the lovably bambino piped up again releasing an ever increasing torrent of shouts and cries. Then the bottle would be produced again and it was still once more. Until..you get the picture. I wasn't too sure about the parenting skills demonstrated but it was certainly a slice of Napolitan couleur locale.
